Ann Powers This week’s Remember Well is a tribute to Memorial Day honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military to protect our freedoms. This picture shows a 1955 Memorial Day Parade float sponsored by the State National Bank. It depicts the raising the American flag on the island of Iwo Jima during World War II. The float passes in front of the Oak Avenue Cafe at the corner of NE 2nd Street and Oak Avenue in Mineral Wells. The G and A Feed store, pictured in the background, faces NE 2nd Street.
