Who is keeping score?

My great-great-grandfather, Dr. Edwin Clay Rogers of Fannin County, served in the 5th Congress of the Republic of Texas in 1840-41. He served alongside Sam Houston, who had termed out in his first tenure as President of the Republic and was elected as a congressman from Fayette County. These were one-year terms.

Area ballers leading their teams

Community Christian School is no stranger to stellar athletes and successful sports seasons, and this year is no different. The Warriors are blazing through their basketball season, sporting an 18-3 record at the time of this article being written. The Warriors have a strong team, with several players making a difference this season, players such as Conner Ford, Jaylon Hyson and Price Horton to name a few. These three guys are on almost every stat sheet available, according to MaxPreps. Ford lead the team in points per game at 23.6, assists per game at 4.3, steals per game with 4.0, and is shooting 68% from the free throw line and 31% from behind the 3-point line. Hyson leads in rebounds per game with 10.6, blocks per game at 2.1, and field goal percentage, where he’s shooting 53%. Horton sits in the top 3 behind one of these guys in points per game, FG percentage, assists per game, and 3pt percentage. The Lady Warriors are being led by a triple threat of players as well, who are also ranked in the top 25 in the state in their respective stat lines(MaxPreps). Alyssa Connelly who is ranked no. 9 in Texas leads the CCS ladies with 13.4 rebounds per game, and closely following her at no. 14 is Kate Buchanan with an average of 12.7 rebounds per game. Buchanan also ranks no. 9 in blocks per game with 3.8, and is 25th for steals per game with 5.2. Rounding out the CCS leaders is Kendal Gil who leads the team in assists per game and is ranked no. 9 with 5.5 per game.

Hitting it high and keeping it low on command

golfers never work on controlling their trajectory. When I practice on the range, I always try to hit a few shots as low as I can and then try to hit a few as high as I can. This is with every iron I have in the bag as well as my woods. Being able to get the trajectory up high on downwind shots will give you added yardage. The same holds true when you can keep the ball low when hitting into a strong head wind.
