GORDON—The Texas Water Development Board approved a $2.1 million loan to Gordon for improving its aging water treatment plant, then turned around and forgave $1.6 million of it. The financial assistance comes from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The low-interest loan includes $530,000 to be repaid. The remaining $1.6 million is principal forgiveness, according to an Aug. 15 TWDB announcement. TWDB Team Manager Tom Barnet said Gordon qualifies to receive principal forgiveness from the 2023 DWSRF Use Plan under the Disadvantaged Community and Very Small System funding options.
