MINERAL WELLS – Meet Aaron Bovos – the new finance director/assistant city manager for Mineral Wells.
His first day was May 12, alongside City Manager Jason Weeks to oversee the city’s financial operations and support its long-term economic health.
Bovos brings more than 20 years of experience in local government and non-profit finance and accounting, having held key financial positions with the City of Fort Worth, My Health My Resources of Tarrant County and the American Quarter Horse Association, according to Brittany Brown, marketing and communications manager/PIO.
The finance director position has been vacant since September 2024.
“We didn’t want to hire just anyone, so we took our time through several rounds of interviews to find the ideal candidate,” Weeks said “Expanding the role to include assistant city manager allowed us to address additional staffing needs essential to our future growth. The hiring committee and I are confident that Aaron is the perfect fit as he brings the right mix of experience and drive to help our community achieve its goals.”
While at the City of Fort Worth, Bovos played a fundamental role in major financial initiatives, including the financing of Dickies Arena and pension reform efforts. His expertise in governmental finance, strategic planning and fiscal sustainability will be invaluable as Mineral Wells continues to strengthen its financial footing, Weekes added.
Bovos holds a master’s degree in governmental accounting from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Governors University. Outside of work, he is an active horseman and competes in reining horse events.
“I am honored to join the City of Mineral Wells and look forward to working with the team to support the initiatives of the Mayor, Council, staff and community,” Bovos said. “This is an exciting opportunity to bring my experience in municipal finance to a dynamic organization and I am eager to contribute to its success.”
