Rams Spirit Night celebrates kick off of fall sports

MINERAL WELLS – Mineral Wells ISD celebrated the beginning of the fall sports season with a fun-filled Spirit Night held at MWHS.

Emceed by Rams coach, Jacob Kaspar, the band, Wranglerettes, and cheerleaders welcomed the five sports teams to the court to be recognized. Football, volleyball, cross country, golf, and tennis, alongside the student trainers all took the court while they were announced. Each teams head coach said a few words of encouragement and invited the community to watch them compete.

It was a full house, with the stands packed with parents, siblings, friends, and several next generation Rams. The crowd even got to participate in some of the action, during the “battle cry” competition at the end of the event. The fans took the “v-i-c-t-o-r-y” over the teams and band and were awarded by Ram fan gear from the cheerleaders.

Ram fans also got a preview of what is to come from the Mighty Ram Band, the cheerleaders, and Wranglerettes, as each performed at various points of the event, including the closing when the band played the Rams fight song with all of the athletes taking center court and joining pinkies as is the tradition.

The Lady Rams season is off to a strong start with a couple of games under their belts, and a tournament underway this weekend. The Rams football team is in scrimmage season, and will begin the season in Fort Worth Aug. 30. The tennis team finished up play just before the start of Spirit night, getting the best of Millsap. Cross Country is off to a good start, with the boys team finishing third overall in their first meet of the season.
