Rams Athletic Director and head football coach, Cody Worrell returned for another peek at all the great things happening in Rams and Lady Rams sports this week.
To kick things off, Worrell updated us on the Lady Rams volleyball team, including their exciting victory over the number six ranked Graford Lady Jackrabbits in four sets. But the biggest news from the Lady Rams volleyball program in their trip to Florida to compete in a tournament at Universal Studios. Worrell said this, “The Varsity traveled to Orlando, Florida on Wednesday to compete in their final tournament of the season. The Lady Rams went 3-4 on the weekend against very good teams from Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, and Texas!” In updates from head coach Kimberly Branch, the Lady Rams got the full experience while in Orlando. They would spend the days on the court, then head out to attractions or use their free time bonding as a team.
The next update from Worrell came from Cross Country, with Worrell bragging, “Cross-Country had yet another big showing at the James Smith Invitational held in Midlothian, TX this past week! The Varsity Boys finished 1st place overall, the JV Boys finished 1st place overall, the Varsity Girls finished 4th place overall, and the JV Girls finished 3rd place overall!”
In tennis this week, the Rams and Lady Rams took on a tough Brock Eagles team, and fell short, but according to Worrell showed great improvement and learned a lot.
Finally, in football news, Worrell added, “Football got their first win of the season on Friday against Fort Worth Polytechnic with a score of 49-14!” The Rams came out strong scoring all 49 points in the first half, and holding Poly scoreless until the fourth quarter.
