Cody Worrell’s Rams “Week at a Glance”

As the weather cools down, the schedule of events at Mineral Wells ISD heats up.

Athletic Director Cody Worrell gave us a peek at some of the things going on in the life of the Rams and Lady Rams at the high school and junior high level as fall sports begin to wind down and the winter sports get rolling.

First up on the agenda is basketball. Worrell updated us with game information for the high school Rams and Lady Rams adding, “Basketball season is off and running! The Lady Rams’ first game of the season is [Monday] in Grandview with the JV starting at 5:00 p.m. On Friday the Lady Rams will host Azle for their home opener with the Freshman & JV starting at 5:00 p.m.!

*Correction to the Lady Rams schedule from head coach Michael Ball, instead of playing Azle on Friday, they will be hosting RL Turner with Freshman kicking things off at 5 p.m., followed by JV at 6:15, and finally Varsity at 7:15. *

The Rams will also be in action Monday night, as they host their final scrimmage of the season. Worrell says, “The Rams will host Eagle Mountain as well as Uplift Summit starting at 5:00 p.m.! The Rams will have their first game of the season this Saturday as they will host Wichita Falls Memorial with the JV starting at 12:00 p.m., while the Varsity will begin at 1:45 p.m.!”

Then on to football, Worrell boasted of the Rams district win over Eagle Mountain last Friday. That 26-13 win put the Rams one step closer to clinching a playoff spot with one game left of the regular season. Worrell added, “The Rams travel to Burkburnett on Friday for the final game of the regular season!” Last year, the Rams beat the Bulldogs in an exciting season-ender with hopes for a playoff spot but came up just short of a playoff berth, despite the win. With a three-way tie in the district for the final playoff spot, it came down to points, and the Rams were just short at the final buzzer.

In more football news, the junior high Rams will wrap up their seasons against Burkburnett as well. The 7th grade A Team an 8th grade B Teams will each be looking to finish their seasons undefeated. The 7th grade Rams will travel to Burkburnett for their match up, while 8th grade teams will play at Ram Stadium beginning at 5 p.m.

Finally, Worrell added that the Junior high tennis will be in action in Brock on Wednesday afternoon with matches beginning at 4 p.m.
