MINERAL WELLS – Rams’ seniors Preztynn Harrison and Holden Hering each signed their National Letter of Intent to play college sports for the Texas Tech Red Raiders upon graduation.
December 4th is Early National Signing Day for athletes who have committed to play college athletics prior to the official National Signing Day which will take place February 5, 2025. These two Ram athletes have been committed to play at Texas Tech for months, so they were itching to sign today, as were the coaches at TTU. Rams head coach Cody Worrell said during his short introductory speech that Red Raiders head coach, Joey McGuire was “blowing up his phone” first thing this morning asking about Harrison signing his official letter. So, while the Rams had already signed their letters this morning, the two signed replica letters for the photos and for the event where their family and friends were in attendance as witness.
Harrison is a three-star recruit as a tight end listed at 6-5, 210lbs by Texas Tech, and has been ranked as high as no. 25 by ESPN but has been in the top 100 tight ends in the nation across four different publications. He chose Texas Tech over other Division I schools like University of North Texas, Vanderbilt, University of Texas-El Paso, and Texas State University. Coach McGuire had the following remarks found on the Texas Tech website about the recruit, “He’s a long, athletic wide receiver and tight end. He actually played defensive end and defensive back. He comes from Mineral Wells, a good program. He’s a guy that has a great frame to go from wide receiver to tight end.”

Hering is also headed to Lubbock but to take on the baseball diamond as a right-hand pitcher, also playing first base and third base. Apart from being a Ram, he has played for the Duran Baseball 17U National Team according to Perfect Game. Hering is listed as 6-5, weighing 225 and bats and throws right-handed and came to Mineral Wells as a senior, after playing in College Station at his previous school. According to the Perfect Game National Showcase report from 2024, he has a fastball of 93mph and a high spin fastball, also able to throw sliders and curveballs and a solid changeup and was invited to play in the All-American Classic. Ram fans are excited to see him on the mound and diamond in a Rams uniform this spring and watch the future Red Raider in action.

These two young men have made Mineral Wells proud, and we look forward to watching them in their next endeavor and beyond. But we also look forward to many more student athletes from Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County to sign their letters of intent as the year progresses, as there are so many talented athletes with bright futures just like these two.
