Council tightens rules on landscape preservation on rights-of-way
The Mineral Wells City Council on Tuesday approved an amendment to the right-of-way management provisions that requires contractors working in the right-of-way to not damage trees and other landscaping. The change requires that if an operator alters trees and/or landscaping that it’s done in such a way to preserve the life of the trees/landscaping.

MWISD approves 2025-26 calendar
Mineral Wells ISD has enjoyed a four-day school week, but next year students and teachers will have to get through the first two and a half months before they can be off on Fridays. The MWISD Board of Trustees on Monday approved the 2025-26 academic calendar, and one key difference from this year’s calendar is the five-day school week in August, September and most of October.
