County staff, notables attend DA’s send-off shindig

PALO PINTO – District Attorney Kriste Burnett’s office staff, Palo Pinto County officials, community leaders and residents gathered for her retirement party, Dec. 18, wishing her luck in her next chapter.

Burnett first joined the 29th Judicial District in 2009 as the assistant DA. She became the county’s top prosecutor in 2017 and served two terms.

Burnett lost her bid for a third term to DA-elect Jett Smith, who is set to be sworn in at the Palo Pinto County Courthouse at 1 p.m. on Jan. 1.
