District honors earned by many area athletes

PALO PINTO COUNTY AREA — As football season comes to an end for most teams, the awards and honors are starting to roll in.

First up, we have the 6-man awards. District 9-1A Div. II honored several from the Strawn Greyhounds. Most of the 12 Greyhounds listed were named as First Team selections, with three being named to Second Team.

  • Alex Hughes – 1st Team All District Full Back & Defensive Lineman
  • Alfonso Alanis – 2nd Team All District Center
  • Ben Hopkins – 1st Team All District Center & Safety
  • Daniel Orduna – 2nd Team All District Running Back & Linebacker
  • Danny Sifuentes – 1st Team All District Noseguard
  • David Yanez – 1st Team All District Tight End & Defensive MVP
  • Jackson Brister – 1st Team All District Tight End & Spread Rusher
  • Johnny Fraga – 1st Team All District Linebacker & Special Teams Player
  • Kaison Nuñez – 1st Team All District Quarterback & Cornerback
  • Michael Barcenas – 1st Team All District & Offensive MVP
  • Nic Lynn – 1st Team All District Running Back
  • Shane Ahearn – 2nd Team All District Utility Back & Noseguard
 
The Strawn Greyhounds were Bi-District Champions with their win over Fannindel, and were Area qualifiers where they matched up with Iredell, falling just short of claiming that title by a score of 90-91.
 
 
Also, in the 6-man world, the Perrin-Whitt Pirates earned a few All-District honors. In District 6-6A Div. I, the Pirates had four First Team selections and four Second Team selections.
