Lee, Orsini win Strawn City Council race

STRAWN – Newcomer Brenda Orsini and incumbent Alderman Dewaine Lee won the two available seats on the Strawn City Council in Palo Pinto County’s only contested race for the May 3 General Election.

According to the County Elections Administration’s unofficial results, Orsini took 41.29% of the vote and Lee secured 35.82% for the two-year terms. Incumbent Alan Alison lost his re-election bid with 22.89% of the 201 votes cast.

Officials said 131 people turned out for early voting and 70 showed up at the polls on Election Day.

In Texas, the May election of an odd-numbered year is an opportunity for voters to participate in local governance by selecting officials such as city council members, school board trustees and other municipal representatives.
