The Lady Rams are wrapping up their non-district schedule and beginning to face their district matchups.
The last matchup of non-district action for the Lady Rams was against Wichita Falls Legacy. Prior to the game, the Lady Rams underclassmen and coaches recognized their seven seniors, Kaydin Hobbs, Kahlea Samples, Aryan Perez, Liliana Rodriguez, Caylee Cloud, Ayla Jarmillo, and Hudson Hobbs.
The underclassmen gave the seniors gifts as they were announced on to the court before the game began. Tears were shed, laughs were had, and the girls were escorted out by their families and loved ones.
This week, we will share a few and look out for the remaining seniors to be recognized in next week’s edition of the Palo Pinto Press.
Hudson Hobbs was escorted by her parents and sister, and was all smiles, like always. Hobbs is planning on attending Utah State University after high school and would love to be a children’s book author. She gave props her to current and past teammates, and gave some advice to the younger players, “Have fun and don’t take anything too seriously. That applies to volleyball, or any area of life!”
Ayla Jarmillo was escorted out by her parents as well, and as her teammates approached her with gifts, the tears began to flow. Jarmillo is hoping to head to New York to continue her education and would love to work with animals in the future. Her favorite memory of volleyball has been getting to play in Florida with her team this year and the fun they had while there.
Next up on to the floor was Caylee Cloud, escorted by her parents as well. She has been accepted to Texas Tech and will head there in the fall. She loves when Head Coach, Kimberly Branch tells them, “My grandma could do that.” and wishes she could play libero. Cloud hopes to live in the mountains someday and wants to pursue photography, selling photos she takes of nature and scenery.
Liliana Rodriguez got the loudest cheers from the team, as she came to the court with her mother. Rodriguez is a powerhouse at the net and will be missed, as well as the rest of these seniors. She let everyone know her favorite food is her grandmother’s tamales, and her dream school is University of Hawai’i at Manoa with her dream job is being a defense attorney. She loves all the memories she’s made playing volleyball, as well as friendships, and always learning something new.
The Lady Rams were victorious on the night as well, winning in three sets over Legacy. The Lady Rams close out non-district play with a win and now look ahead to district games and keeping on the winning side of things.
Look out for the remaining three seniors in next week’s Palo Pinto Press!
