Next generation football players attend free camp with NFL player

MINERAL WELLS — Former Ram, current NFL player Adrian Colbert came home to Mineral Wells to give back to the community by hosting a free football camp for young men and women in the community.

Colbert, class of 2012, has several seasons of NFL football under his belt, and has been giving back to the two communities that helped mold him and led him on his road to success, Mineral Wells and Wichita Falls. He will be hosting a free camp at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls at a later date as well.

Each camper was taught the skills and techniques and cheered on by Colbert and the Mineral Wells football coaching staff and even some Ram players who all helped orchestrate the camp at Ram Stadium.

Colbert is currently playing safety in his third season for the Chicago Bears, entering his ninth season in the big leagues overall. He bragged on his time at the camp saying, “Huge thank you to everyone who came out and poured into the next generation — from the coaches, to the parents, and most importantly, the KIDS who showed up ready to grow, learn, and compete. Your energy made this camp special. Grateful for the opportunity to give back to a place that means so much to me.”

He is already planning his return next summer but of course has some football to play and business to take care of between now and then as his NFL season kicks off on August 10 with a preseason matchup with the Dolphins, a former team of Colbert’s. The Bears will officially kick off their regular season on September 8 against the Vikings.
