CHICAGO – Mineral Wells alumni Adrian Colbert is back in uniform and on the field for a familiar team.
The nine-year NFL veteran found himself without a team earlier this season, just as the season was kicking off. But in week 12, the former Ram has found himself back on the sidelines and back in pads with the Bears.
Colbert was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2017 draft and has bounced around to several teams including the Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Browns, and Bears to name a few. He has been a part of the defense or special teams on all of these squads and was a part of the Bears lineup in the last couple of games in 2022 as a part of the special teams, and a member of the practice squad during the 2023 season.
In 2024 he saw some playing time during the preseason before the Bears organization made the tough decision to not put him on the final 53-man roster to begin the season. But by week 11, the Bears brought back the veteran defensive back/safety, starting out on the practice squad again but for just a week, before being added back to the active roster for Chicago by week 12.
