This writer regrets to report Larry Ward, a decade-long kingpin in the Mineral Wells Senior Center kitchen, is no longer with us on this plane. Larry was not only the anchor among staffers, he was a personal friend to many who came to the center and often took seniors and grandchildren fishing and to other off-campus adventures.
RIP Mr. Ward. This writer will miss Larry’s smile and grand sense of humor.
In addition, Linda Choate has retired as the director of the Senior Center.
Here’s hoping we shall still see her here and there. She’ll surely be present at the Pythian Bingo evenings from time to time.
The Palo Pinto Press crew owes Linda a special thank you for helping to launch this newspaper. Moot, Moot and Moooot!
From the first event introducing Editor Ann Powers to the many folks who support this community through nonprofit organizations to her always ambassadorial efforts to enlist new subscribers, Linda has been faithful and effective.
Alexis Masterson-Perez is to be welcomed on board as the new director. Her executive skills are as impressive as her way with food preparation.
New in the kitchen is Shawna Collins, one of the most delightful cooks in the county. Shawna hails from the McCoy family of Fortune Bend on the Brazos River. Shawna has some yummy recipes in her apron pocket.
Over the years the Senior Center has turned many pages, some happy and some sad, but the facility continues to serve the community with good food, good exercise, good entertainment, and most of all good companionship.
If you’ve never visited the center, it’s located at 102 NW 6th Ave Mineral Wells TX 76067. You may call 940-325-6470, go online or check out the Facebook page to learn more about the many activities.
Faithful subscribers, please call 1-844-956-3342 and visit with a CherryRoad Media operator for longer hours of service or if you cannot reach the 940-274-6733 ext. 2329 circulation number or you find following the prompts difficult.
You can also renew your subscriptions online at palopintopress.com, no matter whether you choose print plus digital or the digital/online only services.
Please know you are invited to drop by the Mineral Wells office at 501 E. Hubbard to renew Monday through Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
As always, your patronage of the Press is truly appreciated.
Without subscribers, there could be no local newspaper!
