Santo promotes sharp shooters during summer workouts

SANTO — Santo Lady Wildcats are spending the summer hitting the hardwood and improving their skills for the next basketball season.

It’s been said that champions are made during the offseason, and the Lady Wildcats are taking that to heart. They established a shooting program this summer to help build up their players and their skills. The flyer for the program released on the Santo Lady Cats Basketball Facebook profile, was titled, “That’s not my job.” and explained that there are four people, Everybody, Anybody, Somebody, and Nobody and they each had a job. It concludes that, “It resulted in Everybody blaming Somebody, when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.” And adding, “It’s Everybody’s job to make sure the job gets done.”

They revealed different levels of “employment” to get the job done, Intern, Apprentice, Specialist, Architect, and CEO. Each level is based on the amount of “work” put in, by the number of made shots each player has. The program has been a great success, with several players earning promotions throughout the summer so far after just starting earlier this month.

Apprentices are currently Elena Martinez, Aubrey Watts, Emma Martinez, Kelby Burrows, Gracie Sides, Hayla Colvin, Mylee Wallace, and Holland Thornton. Being an Apprentice means that each player has made 1000 shots in the gym with a coach present. The next level is Specialist, which will be accomplished by 1500 makes.
