Is it the middle of November already?? Time passes quickly, doesn’t it?
Do you have your Christmas shopping done? Better hurry, it is upon us! BUT, one of the best holidays of the year is always Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving, when the weather is cool (or cold or hot), the house is warm and filled with the sweet smell of home cooking, family and friends. How many of you still gather around a full table and all eat together? How many of you still have turkey and dressing?
I love that and so many people say, “I don’t like turkey” or “I don’t like dressing.” Man, they never had my grandmother Dunn’s dressing or her pumpkin pie.
How many of you still watch the Macy’s Parade? That used to be a thing. Seemed everyone watched the parade while poor Mom slaved over the hot stove preparing the feast of the year!
Then everyone sat down to watch the game while she slaved in the kitchen cleaning everything up! What a raw deal for Mom!
Hey, I want to make you aware of a great meal this weekend being put on by the supporters of Back Pack Buddies and the First United Methodist Church. Twenty dollars will get you a half chicken, beans, coleslaw and brownies.
Drive through only. Enter on the east side of the church, pull around to the north side, pick up your meal, and exit on the west side. Then you can go home and eat when you want.
Times are 5-7 p.m, on Saturday, Nov. 16. This is a fundraiser to feed food-insecure children of Mineral Wells. ALL proceeds go directly into the program. There is no overhead. All workers are volunteers.
