Crimes during the holidays account for about 8.1 % of all crimes committed throughout year, and the Lone Star State ranks tenth for costliest holiday burglaries according to data complied by Porch Group using the FBI’s Crime Data Explorer. Nationwide, nearly 5,000 homes were burglarized on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day last year, according to Porch’s study.
